Sign-on process / Check whether you are signed on
The sign-on click the "log In" link in the banner/header of the page or "Member Pages" link in the menu on the left side of the page. This will show a pop-up screen to login. After submitting your username and password, the popup screen will refresh and return with the message "You are now logged in" "Return to Page".
Click the "Return to Page" link.
This will close the pop-up screen and refresh the main page.
After main page has refreshed you will see your username in
banner/header and an expanded menu on the left side (e.g
Roster). If for some reason you don't see your username or the expanded menu
refresh
your page
Sign-on requirements / What's the problem?
The login process to CVNEWCOMERS or CVENCORE (like many other sites) requires a pop-up window and the placement of a cookie on your PC.
A cookie is a small amount of data, which often includes an anonymous unique identifier, that is sent to your browser from a web site's computers and stored on your computer's hard drive.
Allowing popup windows and cookies is defined through to the security and privacy settings of your browser and/or firewall settings and/or sign-on application:
In most cases you can configure your browser, firewall or sign-on application to allow cookies and popup windows for specific sites (in our case http://www.cvnewcomers.com or http://www.encore.com).
In all cases try to refresh/reload the page first:
Use the icon in the browser toolbar or right-click your mouse and choose refresh/reload
from the "pop-up" menu.
This should refresh the your window. The banner/header should
re-appear with your username. Otherwise try one of following
choices:
Forgot password or userid
If you forgot your password or userid then use the "Password?" option
in the login bar. This will first send a validation e-mail to check the
identity.
The e-mail message contains a validation link, pressing the link will
send a second message with userid and temporary password.
Login Screen doesn't show up.
You probably are blocking popup windows.
This can be a browser problem (see Login
Screen can be accessed but no reply), but most likely this will be
a firewall or sign-on
application setting.
Test by temporarily
disabling your firewall. Mind you that most of the times a firewall is
a separte program, however some browsers or routers (like a cable router
or
a wireless router) have a build-in firewall. Most firewalls can be set
to accept scripting, cookies, etc. from certain trusted sites. Please
consult
the manual of the firewall (or (less likely) the settings of you router).
If you use dial-up or dsl, your settings might be defined through a sign-on
application provided by your internet provider (open this application
and look for security or privacy
settings)
(MSN users will use a MSN portal, which settings are defined through IE(see Login Screen can be accessed but no reply))
(EarthLink users: EarthLink might have installed an
extra toolbar in IE(see EarthLink Users: Additional
Settings))
Login Pop_up Screen closes correctly but
I'm not logged in" :
This means that the cookies have already been set with the information that you
are signed in. You cannot be twice logged in on the same PC with the same browser,
hence the message.
Try first to refresh or reload the window. Use the icon in the browser
toolbar
or right-click your mouse and choose refresh/reload from the "pop-up" menu.
This should refresh the your window. The banner/header should
re-appear with your username and the menu on the left of the page should
be expanded.
The second option is to actually delete the cookies:
In IE:
Go to Tools (menu bar), go to Internet Options,
Click on the General tab. Click on delete cookies
Refresh the window (see above)
Netscape:
Open the Edit menu and choose Preferences.
Under the Privacy & Security category, click manage stored cookies. (If
no subcategories are visible, double-click Privacy & Security to expand
the list.). Delete the cvnewcomers.com* cookies or all cookies.
Refresh Banner/Menu bar (see above)
MSN (and IE):
MSN uses IE settings, try to find IE on your PC. Alternatively you can access
the IE settings throug your windows "start menu" > Settings > Control
Panel > Internet options
If this doesn't fix the problem you might want to check the security or privaciy settings (see Browser Settings )
Login Screen can be accessed but no reply:
You probably disabled the use of cookies.
This can be a firewall problem (see Login Screen doesn't
show up) but most likely this will be a browser setting.
Allowing cookies will be related
to the privacy
or the security setting of the browser. Most browsers
can be set to accept scripting, cookies, etc. from certain trusted sites.
To change
the browser settings (see Browser Settings )

EarthLink: Additional Settings
While installing your DSL connection EarthLink will also install an extra EarthLink Toolbar in IE. This EarthLink Toolbar provides extra privacy and security settings. Dependent on your IE settings this toolbar might be hidden. To show the EarthLink toolbar, move your cursur into a exsiting toolbar at the top of your browser, right clicking your mouse will show a dropdown menu with available toolbars. Check the EarthLink toolbar.
With EarthLink you have to allow pop-up windows for either cvnewcomers (http://www.cvnewcomers.com) or cvencore (http://www.cvencore.com). You can configure this through the little drop-down arrow right of your "pop-up blocker" button represented by a red fist.
(This fist/button might also be hidden: in that case you have to configure the EarthLink toolbar itself through the little drop-down arrow right of the EarthLink icon/button. Check the Pop-Up Blocker choice under the "Show the following toolbar modules" section)
- From the drop-down menu choose "Pop-Up Blocker Options"
- From the "Protection Level" section use the "Open Allow List"
- Add the site (www.cvnewcomers or www.cvencore.com) to the Allow List (follow the instructions)
(The site is temporary hosted by our family site.
Add in addition to cvnewcomers.com or cvencore.com also humancool.com)
